Networking

I will expect that many customers will be ordering my product over the web. In order to ensure the information they enter on my company's website is secure, I will have to establish a secure connection. Therefore, when someone presses the "buy now" link on my website, the web protocol or http at the being of the domain name will change to ssl or https for a secure connection. This will encrypt any sensitive information sent over the internet.

The domain name for my company site will be probably be http://www.suctionhandryer.com/ but I'll check with ICANN to make sure that the name is valid. Once that's established, I will have to configure my DNS server to translate the domain name letters into the numbers of the IP adress. I plan to eventually expand internationally as well, therefore will add country code names to the website if it's trying to be accessed in another country other than the U.S.

For online customer support or another service that answers customer's inquiries, I will need to make sure that my newtork has a Simple Network Time Protocol server or a SNTP server. This server will temporarily store E-mails sent throught the network which can then be retrieved using Post Office Protocol (POP) and Internet Message Access Protocol or IMAP. POP will transfer the message from the SNTP server while IMAP will copy the actual message being sent. The outcome will be fast and easy customer support through the internet.

Database Managment Continued

My company will do its best to be as organized and efficient as possible. In order to accomlish this, a client/server method will be used. Seeing as this approach offers maximum accessibility to clients, it will enable them to reach information through a secure company network to the main servers. Queries can be sought and recieved using this system.

My company will use Oracle software to power its database system. Using this software, I will be able to store datum that corresponds with other datum to decrease confusion. My employees will be able to look-up a customer's records and verify their order and so forth.

To make sure that all of my data is reliable and is structered to contemporary standards, I will make sure to normalize my database. I will use the five fundamental steps in creating a data base which include: keeping every cell in a Microsoft Access doucument to one piece of datum, organizing the columns by ensuring that only one type of datum is in each cell, making sure that every colum has a relevant purpose in the data spreadsheet, differentiating the rows from one another, and by ensuring that certain data is never stored in more than one place on the system. Records will be able to be stored and retrived easily upon request whether its the employee or customer who is seeking for information.

Database Management

In order to keep track of how many sales my company makes of my product, I will use spreadsheet applications since it is the easiest and fastest way to store large amounts of data within the bowels of the system server. I will require my staff to use the Zoho spreadsheet application because one spreadsheet project can be worked on by multiple people in different locations at the same time. Since Excel is the preeminent application, I will have my staff convert the Zoho files into Excel files which is another good reason for using Zoho.

While ultimately using Excel for data management, I will make it manadatory that all documents are to be conditionally formatted. This will enable fast browsing of the key elements in an Excel spreadsheet. There will be set of company guidelines as to the color coating scheme when conditionally formatting Excel documents.

Additionally, emphasis will be put on the use of pivot tables for further summary and analysis of major data spreadsheets that are convoluted with lots of information. These tables will enable the breakdown of information. For example, the amount of units, in this case hand dryers, sold in a certain country and the total profits made from that sale are just one of many ways to chop-up the data to view in simplier terms for overall maximum effciency.
